Session Notes for rd1406 Prepared by K. Le Bail and J. Gipson, NVI, Inc./GSFC =========================================================== PURPOSE AND GENERAL NOTES =========================================================== GAIA proposal: observation of 24 sources in category 4, 4 sources in category 3 with bad position uncertainties, and 5 sources in categories 1 and 2 with no observation in the past 12 months. The Laboratoire d'Astrophysique de Bordeaux (LAB) subnmitted a proposal to observe 195 ICRF2 transfer sources in the context of the GAIA mission. Those 195 sources are divided in four categories. The forth category contains 24 sources which are not part of the IVS monitoring program and which have a poor position accuracy. The goal in observing them in R&D sessions is at first to improve their position accuracy. We noticed that 4 sources in category 3 have a position uncertainties between 100 and 200 microas. They will be observed in this session to improve their uncertainties. Also, 5 sources in categories 1 and 2 have not been observed in the past 12 months, probably because they are weak sources. They will be observed in this session to re-evaluate their flux. In RD1406, we use 33 sources of the GAIA proposal in the astro mode of sked. Forty of the good geodetic sources are used as base of a stable sources set and uniform sky coverage. We use a composite flux catalog: if the flux values are missing or too low in the sked catalog, we use the flux values provided by LAB. Unfortunately, due to the weakness of some of the sources and the network, we were not able to schedule 3 of the 33 sources. Wettzell and Kokee will observe INT I14238 during the time from 1815 UT to 1945 UT. ----- Parameter listing -------------------------------------- Experiment: RD1406 Description R&D-08/2014 Scheduler: NASA Correlator: HAYS Start: 2014-238-17:30:00 End: 2014-239-17:30:00 Current yyyyddd: 2014238 (2014.65) ( 16896 MJD, TUES 26AUG.)
